On May 15th, the Windsor-Essex Bilingual Legal Clinic and Legal Assistance of Windsor presented a
workshop on the rights of the working poor. The forum was directed towards the difficulties faced by
the low income worker and the ways that their situation can be improved through creative use of the
legal remedies that are available.
We are pleased to report that the forum was a great
success. Approximately 65 people attended, both
from different organizations in Windsor that deal
with employment issues as well as interested
individuals.
The presentation by Terry Hunter and Karen McClellan
of the Simcoe, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes legal clinic
regarding the philosophy behind
representing low income workers
and the rights and remedies
available to the workers was
interesting and very well received.
They provided the members of
the audience with a binder with
valuable information about the
subjects discussed.
We are very pleased that our first large scale public legal
education presentation went so well. We wish to thank
everyone involved and who helped make this event a
success.

We also had a dynamic panel who dealt
with issues specific to Windsor/Essex
County. The panel also spoke about the
resources available through their various
organizations.
